In early 2010 the Union and BMS, in conversation with the College Principals, began to explore whether we didn't need some reflection on both the ways British Baptists have historically structured ourselves for mission, and the theological underpinnings of the endeavour.
Wisely, rather than rush into that in a hurried way, we decided instead to commission Professor Brian Stanley to explore this as the subject matter for the 2011 G.R.Beasley-Murray lecture.
This was delivered at the Assembly in Blackpool and with permission, is now available to read or download from here.
As ever with Brian's scholarship, it is thorough and pithy, and raises some interesting issues as we look to the future.
